Our Story:
The Reshet philosophy is to create an outstanding environment that
encourages academic achievements, embraces diversity, builds on
traditional Jewish values and keeps pace with changes in the world
around them.
The first to benefit from the Reshet school system were immigrant
children arriving in the 1950's from Europe and the Middle East.
The schools were opened under the express directive of the Lubavitcher
Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
Following the Government of Israel's official recognition, Reshet
opened other schools. And as more parents began to seek out Reshet
from Kiryat Shmonah in the north to Eilat in the south, the network
of schools expanded in scope and depth to accommodate the many and
rapidly changing needs.
Today, there are more than ten thousand young children in the Reshet
Schools, among them new immigrants and Israelis, traditional and
secular. The schools provide an enriched curriculum - the basic
core curriculum including Judaic studies, supplemented by specialized
disciplines such as art, music, computers, maths and sciences. It
is in this kind of setting that the child experiences fulfillment,
growth and achievement.
At the Reshet Schools, children are exposed to countless opportunities
for learning, growing, experiencing, enjoying
and seeking
and shaping their own destiny in life.
At Reshet Schools children experience and learn about those values
that make up the very fabric of a caring society that lives the
ancient Jewish precept, "Every Jew is responsible for one another."
Reshet Schools are often the focal point of the community. Passover
projects, Purim parties, holiday communal celebrations, weekly visits
to senior citizen centers, local Torah contests, walk-a-thons and
more
are designed to give children opportunities for giving
more of themselves to their communities.
Maybe that's why Reshet has been recognized by volunteer organizations
such as WIZO, Ilan (National Organization for the Handicapped) and
many others, as well as the Ministry of Absorption. Moreover, activities
and events help throughout the year to bring Reshet children, parents
and pedagogic staff in close contact, transforming families into
active and involved participants.
At Reshet, children develop a love and appreciation of traditional
values, devotion to the Jewish people and a commitment to the wider
community. The child learns that all his actions are important.
And that his actions influence many others
in school
at home
in his community
in Israel.
Education is more than preparing children to keep pace with a rapidly
changing world. It's about creating an environment. An environment
that enables each child to thrive no matter how different his background,
or economic or social standing.
A hungry child can't learn. Six-year old Shira doesn't have that
problem any more. She did, however, when she first attended our
Jaffa School. But staff there were quick to notice her lack of attention
and immediately stepped in. Now that her mother has successfully
found work, she needed to find a program for Shira in the afternoons
when she is not home to take care of her. Reshet Schools' stimulating
extended school day program is the perfect answer for both Shira
and her mother. Shira enjoys a wide range of activities and help
with her homework. And Shira's mother feels secure knowing that
her daughter is in good, loving hands.
